Warhawks leave non-conference finals at SFA. fall


NACODOGHES, Texas – The ULM volleyball team ended their stay at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational with a 3-0 loss (25-16, 25-13, 25-11) against the hosts Ladyjacks on Saturday afternoon.

ULM have lost their last three games while SFA have won eight of their last nine games.

In their first set, the Warhawks and Ladyjacks kept pace with the start of the contest. student in the first year Phoebe Stigens kill early on the score and an attack error by SFA on the next move brought ULM to 7-6. The ladyjacks carried their offensive power into the second set. ULM took the lead on the first serve of the set, but quickly lost it to SFA. The Ladyjacks extended their lead with three runs of five or more straight points and finished 25-13 against the Warhawks.

In the third and last set, SFA had all the momentum in the competition. The Warhawks were unable to balance the ladyjacks or take the lead at any point in the set. SFA took set three, 25-11.

Senior Cali Assaley led ULM with 12 kills. Junior Mariana Volponi and Giordan 14 assists distributed.

ULM returns to Fant-Ewing Coliseum at 6 p.m. Thursday to open the Sun Belt Conference game against Georgia State.
