MORTON, Il. (WMBD) – An Ohio woman walks on the door to Hollywood and lands her first film role in a new movie in central Illinois.

Liz McCauley, who had traveled from Dayton, Ohio, spent most of Friday in Morton in the makeup chair, meeting the cast for the upcoming film by Gemelli Films called “Baking Up Love”.

She will play the wife of singer Jeff Timmons character. Timmons is best known from the 98 Degrees musical group.

“I’m excited it’s just new opportunities,” said McCauley. “I love to travel so you know I have to do a little road trip on Memorial Day weekend. I get to act in a movie and see my favorite boy band member. I’m not trying to catch too much but you know I think I’ll be fine. ”

McCauley won the role through a competition hosted by the film’s production team that required entrants to submit a recipe describing what they would bake and participate in the Great Pumpkin Bake-Off.

McCauley’s winning entry was pumpkin lasagne.

“I googled unique pumpkin recipes and went in depth from there,” said McCauley. “I found a recipe for pumpkin lasagna and that was my template. I got the message and there was no way I left, and now here I am. “

McCauley’s prize package, presented to her by Timmons and the village mayor Jeff Kaufman, also included a hotel stay at the Morton Holiday Inn Express & Suites, an invitation for two to the premiere of Baking Up Love in August, access to Morton’s Pumpkin Festival, and more.

Jeff Timmons, who will play “Pastor Mark,” said the competition was a great way to generate public engagement for the film.

“My group 98 degrees, we’re known for doing a lot with the fans,” said Timmons. “We thought it would be a great way to get people excited about the movie and get them used to the town of Morton.”

He also said that taking part in this film is exhilarating as he has always wanted to catch the acting bug.

“It’s something I’ve always dreamed of growing up,” said Timmons. “I’ve been fortunate to have been in the vocal business for 25 years, and trying and getting in front of the camera is a different art form.”

Timmons said he hoped the world would see him in more roles for Gemelli films soon.

The film will be released on Pureflix beginning September 1, and the cast and crew will return to Morton for a premiere on August 28.
