The Longmont Public Library hosts the 7th Annual Peeps Contest

Whether you love Marshmallow Peeps or hate them, Longmont Public Library’s seventh annual Peeps Literary Diorama Contest allows local residents to bring literature to life while using the sweet seasonal treats.

Until March 30th, those wishing to participate can build their creation, which must include a book theme and at least one peep. The contest was designed to allow people to get creative in depicting notable book scenes and to coincide with the release of the Easter Marshmallows.

“We’re in our seventh year running this event and it’s really cool because the competition is all-ages inclusive. You’ll see young children building dioramas with their families, through to seniors,” said Claire Studholme, the children’s librarian. “This is one of our most popular programs of the year and everyone has a lot of fun with it.”

Contestants can enter the competition by dropping off their dioramas at the library beginning Thursday.

March 30. Even those who do not want to submit an entry can still participate. Anyone can stop by the library lobby between April 8th and April 14th to vote for their favorite creation.

All entries must be received by April 7th at 20:00 and winners will be announced on April 15th. Visit for more information and the submission form.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Adult Diorama (14+); Best Tween Diorama (Ages 9-13); Best Children’s Diorama (ages 8 and younger); Best Transformation of a Peep; Best Diorama Title; Library’s Choice (chosen by library staff); “Peeple’s Choice” (determined by popular vote).
