No. 10 UConn, BC meet for two-game series


CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women’s hockey team will get back in action this weekend with a home-and-home series against No. 10 UConn.

BC and UConn are scheduled for a puck drop on Friday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. at Freitas Ice Forum before a 2:00 p.m. tilt on Saturday, January 15 at Kelley Rink.

All of this season’s Hockey East games will be available on SportsLive in the US and internationally, while all games televised on NESN and NESN+ and other select fixtures will also be available on and the CBS Sports app outside of New England .

• Boston College and UConn will face off in a home-and-home series this weekend, with the puck being dropped at Freitas Ice Forum on Friday and Kelley Rink on Saturday.
• The teams met six times in the 2020-21 season, with the Eagles winning all five regular-season games but the Huskies clinching victory in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament.
Willow Corson (19), Kelly Browne (17), Jillian Fey (17), Olivia Finocchiaro (17) have played UConn more than any other team in their collegiate career.


• Boston College finished its freshman year on December 10 in Vermont, beating the Catamounts 3-1.
• BC is 10-8-0 overall with a score of 8-5-0 in the Hockey East game.
• The Eagles started the season 6-0-0 but have gone 4-8-0 in their 12 games since then.
Abby Newhook (8-7-15) and Hannah Bilka (7-8-15) are tied with the team lead with 15 points each Kelly Browne (6-7-13) and Gaby Roy (5-6-11) have both scored in double figures.
• A total of 19 players in the squad have scored at least one point, including the goalkeeper Abigail Levy with assistance.
• Levy is 10-8-0 in goal with a .939 save and 2.40 goals against average… she has made at least 30 saves in 16 of 18 competitions.
Katie Crowley, Jane Rattigan Head Women’s Hockey Coach, is in her 15th season at the helm of the Eagles.


• Coming off a weekend split in Vermont, the No. 10 Huskies go into Hockey East Friday with a 15-5-2 aggregate and a 9-4-2 score.
• Morgan Wabick leads the team with 18 points with seven goals and 11 assists… Viki Harkness leads the team on goals (8) while Taylor Wabick leads the team on assists (14).
• In goal, Samantha Carpentier-Yelle won with 1.93 goals against average and 0.911 defense 8-3-1, while Megan Warrener is 7-2-1 with 1.35 goals against average and 0.934 defense. .. Carpentier – Yelle has two shutouts while Warrener has three.


• The Eagles lead the all-time streak between teams, 43-20-10…BC is rated 25-10-2 against the Huskies at Kelley Rink…BC is 16-9-8 against UConn in Storrs and 2-1-0 in neutral site meetings.
• BC won all five meetings of the 2020-21 regular season… the Eagles won 5-3 (December 3) and 4-0 (January 31) away wins and defended home ice 2-1 in overtime (January 23) . ), 3-2 (Jan. 30) and 3-1 (Dec. 5)…the Huskies defeated the Eagles 5-1 in the Quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament on February 28 at Kelley Rink.
• BC and UConn have met in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament for the past three seasons…the teams also met in the 2018 semifinals.
• The Eagles have been 22-4-1 at home to Connecticut since the 2007-08 season.
• The teams first met in 2001-02, with UConn winning 2-0-1 in three meetings… BC’s first win against Connecticut came on February 16, 2003 in the teams sixth meeting.
• Ten current Eagles have at least one point against UConn Kelly Browne with 13 points clear on four goals and nine assists, as well as one shorthanded goal and one winning goal.
Olivia Finocchiaro scored her first career goal against UConn on November 16, 2018…Finocchiaro is BC’s second active top scorer against UConn with seven points from two goals and five assists.
Jillian Fey scored two game-winning goals against the Huskies.
Natalie Tulchinsky scored the first and second goals of her career with a two-goal game on December 4, 2020.
Maddie Crowley-Cahill earned her first career point with an assist against UConn on December 4, 2020.
Maddy McArthur shut out the Huskies in all three 2018-19 regular season meetings.
Abigail Levy earned her first shutout as an Eagle with a 33 save performance in a 4-0 win at UConn on January 31, 2021.

Katie Crowley has a career record of 37-8-7 against UConn.

Michaela Boyle joins the BC squad for the second semester after graduating from Robert Morris University.
• Head Coach Katie Crowley was named the 2022 NCAA Silver Anniversary Award winner earlier this week.
Alexie Guay leads all BC players in blocked shots with 33… Keri Clougherty blocked 28 shots and Deirdre Mullowney has blocked 22 … Gaby Roy leads all BC forward with 10 blocked shots.
Abby Newhook is second in the nation and first among freshmen with four game-winning goals.
• Newhook has five multi-point games this year, including two multi-goal games.
Hannah Bilka has scored at least one shot on target in all 71 competitions she has played for BC and has had multiple shots on target in 63 of those…
• BC is 19-1-1 all time when Bilka scores.
Kelly Browne is third in Hockey East and 17th in the nation with 212 faceoff wins… Willow Corson ranks eighth in the conference with 166 wins.
