Mountain Hawks ready for Senior Night Game vs. Boston University

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania – A 2-0-1 in the league and sole possession of first place in the Patriot League, the Lehigh women’s soccer team returns home on Friday to host Boston University. The opening start is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with live statistics. Before the opening start, the Mountain Hawks honor their seven seniors at the Senior Night.

Lehigh’s fourth Patriot League competition takes place on Friday, all in the Lehigh Valley (three home games and won in Lafayette). Last week the Mountain Hawks went 2-0 behind two 2-1 wins – at Lafayette and at home against Holy Cross. student in the first year Corinne Lyght had a total of four goals in the two games (with one goal and three assists). After two assists in the exciting win on Wednesday in Easton, Lyght scored in 35 Ava Schallers Game winning goal in the 80th minute. Lyght was honored with a well-deserved Patriot League Rookie of the Week award on Monday. With Bucknell’s defeat and Army West Point’s draw this weekend, coupled with Lehigh’s win, the Mountain Hawks have claimed sole first place in the stands – a third of the way through the league schedule.

Boston University is 5-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the league game. The Terriers Patriot League wins against Lafayette and Navy, with a loss to Colgate in between. Boston University’s non-league wins came over the Northeast, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Jenna Oldham leads the team in goals (3 – draw), assists (5) and points (11). Margaret Berry has also scored three goals. Two goalkeepers watched almost the same amount of time, with Celia Braun saving 1.57 goals against the average and 71.0 percent. Gretchen Bennett has an ATM score of 1.64 and a savings percentage of 72.7.

In the last encounter between the two teams, Lehigh beat BU 1-0 at home in 2019 behind a goal from Mary Casey, winning for the first time in the series. The terriers lead the series 5-1-2, with Lehigh winning draws in 2014 and 2017.

After Friday’s game, Lehigh will be back in action next Friday, October 8th, when it travels to the Navy to face the Midshipmen at 7 p.m.
