How the games have stacked up so far


On June 11, 2020, Sony hosted its Future of Gaming event, which gave the world a first look at the PlayStation 5, its next generation console and the early games designed for it. PlayStation presented a total of 26 different games for the PS5, from purely exclusive to console exclusive to cross-generational games that are in the works for both the PS5 and Sony’s older console, the PS4.

It’s been over a year since Sony’s Future of Gaming showcase debuted, and we’re nearing the one-year anniversary of the PS5 release date itself. Since the original Future of Gaming showcase, 15 of the 26 games have been released to the masses, with 11 being released have not yet been published. Some of these games will be released later this year, but others won’t be released until 2022 or even later.

The first year of the PS5’s lifespan was a huge success, thanks largely to the games that Sony showed off at its Future of Gaming event that successfully set the tone for what was to come. While PlayStation 5 gamers wait for information on the yet to be released Future of Gaming titles, this is how the titles released so far have evolved.

Just over a year after the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming showcase, 15 of the 26 games have been released for PlayStation consoles. This is an impressive feat and repeats Sony’s philosophy of not revealing games too far in advance. It seems that all of the titles shown during the Future of Gaming event were games that Sony was pretty confident would come out in the first few years after the next generation console was launched for the PlayStation 5.

And while there were some flops in that first wave of games released for the PS5 in the first year, many others lived up to the hype or exceeded expectations. the Demon souls Remake got things hot for the PS5 and serves as the console’s first launch title to show off its graphical prowess. Other PS5 launch titles Astros playroom, Bugsnax, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales worked out fine with Astros playroom widely regarded as one of the games that makes best use of the unique features of the PS5 DualSense controller.

The PS5 kept its momentum throughout 2021, with exclusive products like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and return critical recognition alongside multiplatform releases such as Resident Evil Village. In addition to these games, PlayStation has only recently enjoyed the launch of two exclusive PlayStation consoles that have received similarly strong reviews from critics in the form of. have received Death loop and Kena: Bridge of Spirits.

The PlayStation 5 has had great success since the Future of Gaming showcase, and while chip shortages certainly played a role in the console’s availability, its immense popularity has also played a role. Sony has worked quickly to make the PlayStation 5 console a must-have for gamers with an impressive and growing selection of console-exclusive games. And when you consider how successful the games shown during the PS5 Future of Gaming showcase have been, it is easy to look forward to the titles that are still on the way for Sony’s next-gen console.

There are 11 games that Sony showed off during the PS5 Future of Gaming showcase that have not yet been released. This includes some smaller indie games like Goodbye volcano high, Jett: The far bank, Little devil in there, and Sun ashbut just because they may not have a budget on par with some of the other upcoming PS5 games doesn’t mean fans should write them off. Indie games are huge for the PlayStation brand, and there’s a good chance some of them will come out as award-winning titles with rave reviews.

Some of these indie titles will help PlayStation weather its 2021 holidays after some of the bigger exclusives have been postponed until next year. For example, Jett: The far bank by Superbrothers will be a PlayStation exclusive when it launches October 5, 2021. Then a few weeks later, on October 26th. Sun ash is critically acclaimed by the developers of the Hyper light drifters. This doesn’t include the many other PS5 games released in October that weren’t part of the Future of Gaming showcase.

It seems that a decent number of these unreleased Future of Gaming titles will hit the market in the first few months of 2022. Stray, the quirky game where players play as a cat, is slated for a vague release early in 202, while other titles have more specific dates. Horizon Forbidden West will likely be the first major PlayStation exclusivity when it launches February 18th and as a highly anticipated sequel to. serves Horizon Zero Dawn with a lot of hype behind it.

Then PlayStation players can look forward to the release of the racing game on March 4th Gran Turismo 7, the latest in Polyphony Digital’s long-running franchise. Both Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West are cross-generational games, but they should still be visually stunning on PS5, with exclusive DualSense features on top of that.

Grand Theft Auto 5 may technically also be available on older platforms, but this particular version is exclusive to the next generation. Rockstar Games hasn’t revealed much about what fans can expect yet Grand Theft Auto 5The leap to next-gen consoles, but more should come to light in the coming months. As it is Grand Theft Auto 5The PS5 release date is set to a release window of March 2022, but more has not been revealed.

Aside from delays in the release date, PlayStation fans should expect the rest of the titles on the list to spread out through 2022. Some of them may hit the release window in early 2022, but it stands to reason that others will appear later in the year or possibly even be postponed until 2022. Regardless, the other games that match this bill are Pronounced, a new action RPG from Square Enix; Ghostwire Tokyo, a supernatural action game by The evil in Developer Tango Gameworks; and Pragmata, a mysterious science fiction game currently under development at Capcom.

It is clear that PlayStation 2022 has a huge lineup and it should be emphasized that this is not an exhaustive list of upcoming PlayStation 5 titles. This only takes into account the games that were shown during the PS5 Future of Gaming showcase on June 11, 2020. It doesn’t include the titles that have since been revealed, like God of war: Ragnarok, it seems 2022 is turning out to be one of the best years yet for the PlayStation brand.
