Drake is known for making music much better than picking sports teams.
The music megastar recently dived into iGaming and sports betting due to his partnership with Stake, a sports betting, iGaming and crypto platform in Canada.
Of course, Drake has played before, but he’s definitely upped his game in recent months.
First, he made about $170,000 in profits betting on the Super Bowl with bets that included the Rams Moneyline and Odell Beckham Jr. to score a touchdown.
He then took some of those wins and bet Jorge Masvidal $275,000 (in bitcoin value at the time in USD) to defeat Colby Covington on March 5th.
Masvidal lost by unanimous decision. This led to Drake dipping into the red for the year on his big publicized bets.
A few weeks later, Drake got some action at the biggest Final Four game of the century in Duke vs. North Carolina. Most people weren’t surprised that Drake picked Duke, a roughly -192 favorite.
Drake bet approximately $80,000 (CAN$100,000) on the Blue Devils to win. That was also an L.
Drake now faces his next adventure: the Golden State Warriors.
Drake placed a $159,000 ($200,000 in Canada) bet on the Warriors to win the Western Conference at +400. The bet would net about $800,000 ($1 million Canadian) and $636,000 in profit.
Drake added the caption: “So a[n] unpredictable year…can I see the future?”
The Warriors are currently the second-best favorites to win the West after dismantling the Nuggets on Saturday night. That was also after the Grizzlies lost 1-0 to the Timberwolves in their first round series, bringing their conference odds down.
If the Warriors win the West, Drake would win about $615,000 on his most posted bets. If they lose, he loses about $230,000.
So far it’s been a bear market for the pop star on the sports betting front. But maybe he’s better at roulette.
