Harford County Association of REALTORS® Announces Winners of Fair Housing Poster Contest – Baltimore Sun

The Harford County Association of REALTORS® (HarCAR) recently held their annual poster contest to educate students about fair housing in honor of Fair Housing Month in April. Over 60 students from across Harford County submitted posters showing their take on this year’s theme, Fair Housing Open Doors. The winners of the competition were honored at a Harford County Council meeting.

“As Realtors®, we advocate for many issues, with fair housing being one of the most important,” said HarCAR President Heather Schafer-Adkins. “Not many people realize that fair housing is a challenge facing many communities. The poster competition is an incredible opportunity not only to raise awareness, but also for local students to express their creativity and use their talents to promote equal housing for all.”

First place went to Evie Slutzky, second place to Jayda Taylor and third place to Lily Hannon, students of Fountain Green Elementary School. Each winner a Target gift card.

All attendees received gift bags of pencils, bookmarks, snacks, piggy banks and sunglasses provided by HarCAR members and partners, coupons for local amenities and a pizza party.

All submissions were submitted anonymously to the Committee for Equal Opportunities in Housing. The committee then voted on the proposal. The three most voted submissions were selected as winners, Schafer-Adkins said.

“The Harford County Association of REALTORS® really appreciates the effort and dedication of our attendees this year. We look forward to continuing to engage community members by hosting more competitions in the future,” said Kathy McFadden, CEO of HarCAR.

According to a press release, HarCar is a not-for-profit professional association with over 1,500 members dedicated to upholding property rights and the community.
