Syracuse football has an important 2021 campaign ahead of it. How is the Orange Fair going with a schedule that offers challenges but offers many winable matchups? Our writers take a look, and the predictions vary quite a bit.
Logan Garvey: 5-7. With an improved offensive line, there may be a chance of winning last season’s lost toss-up games. The disruptive defense and Lou Groza award-winning kicker could be the reason Syracuse could make it to a bowl game.
Mike McAllister: 6-6. An improved offensive line and defense that remains one of the best in the country for forcing sales will lead Syracuse to a successful 2021 season. There is more depth in several places than there is in any year of the Dino Babers era. The quarterback game will determine how far this team will go.
Katelyn McCarthy: 4-8. Defense continues to force ball losses to keep the offensive off the field, but it’s not enough. The scrimmage will continue to fight, as will Tommy DeVito. He will be replaced by Garrett Shrader mid-season.
Calvin Hutmacher: 7-5. With a young star-studded defense, the opposing teams won’t know what to expect with the departure of Andre Cisco, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Trill Williams. The quarterback competition results in Garrett Shrader being the starting week. Expect the Syracuse soccer team to get off to a hot start with a 4-0 record this year with their new look.
Syracuse begins its 2021 season in Ohio on Saturday, September 4th. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. East.
