OK. I’m talking about it early because you want to be there and need to mark your calendars.
Our 22nd annual dog walk and competitions will be held on October 29th at the Chambersburg Mall on Black Gap Road.
Each year, contestants absolutely cannot believe the prizes available to contestants who raise $75 or more. So get out there and get these sponsors now so you have a chance at some amazing things.
The top donor gets first choice, and we name names across the board.
Our dog walk coordinator, Robin, works year round to source some truly incredible priced items at Center Square in the mall. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this.
The people at the mall allowed us to come back and we are so grateful. The mall just makes sense – it takes the weather out of the equation and allows us to have prices that people can look through before the event.
I was shocked and really touched when we raised more than $10,000 last year. I know Robin was almost beside himself. Please remember that we also include Facebook fundraisers in the numbers. So if you have a dog walk fundraiser on your Facebook page, just take a screenshot of what you’re raising and we’ll add it to your total. It’s a great way to help the animal shelter.
Registration starts at 9:00 am and the walk starts at 10:00 am. If the weather is good we can walk around outside in the mall. If not, we’re in the mall.
Proceeds from our dog walk are used to care for the thousands of homeless animals that come through the doors of CVAS each year. The money raised will help the animals in our kennels immediately and I know they are all grateful.
People who raise $25 or more will go home with a participation bag. People who bring in $75 or more will receive a t-shirt and a walk around the prize table.
We also have our Prize Wheel for those who like to pretend they’re on a game show and take a spin.
After the walk we hold our dog competitions where we look for the best kisser, the best trick, the best costume and the most obedient. I always have a hard time finding judges for these competitions because picking a winner is so difficult. People come up with great costumes and the puppies’ tricks and skills amaze me every year!
There are also great prizes for the winners of our competitions. I’m telling you, Robin is doing everything in his power. You have to see that.
Each year we try to make our dog walk bigger and better than the last, and you can help us make that happen. All forms and information are available online at: cvas-pets.org or you can always call me with any questions at: (717) 263-5791.
Everyone who takes part in our dog walk is always enthusiastic. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it, so mark your calendars and be on Center Court at Chambersburg Mall on October 29th!
