The casino will hire hundreds of people and generate $ 38 million in new tax revenue. Construction should start this year.
GREENSBORO, NC – Triad cities are hoping for a jackpot as a huge resort casino is set to add thousands of jobs to the area.
Caesars Entertainment released new concept art for the casino in Danville, Virginia on Thursday.
Construction on Caesars Virginia will begin later this year after the project was approved by voters in November.
Danville’s director of economic development, Corrie Bobe, said the casino would be a huge boost to the city’s economy. It is estimated that there will be $ 38 million in new tax revenue.
“This facility is expected to attract around two million visitors to our community each year,” said Bobe.
Some also bet that other cities will make money as people stop on the way to and from the casino.
“When people travel through Reidsville, they’re going to stop, they’re going to eat,” said Diane Sawyer.
Sawyer is President of the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce.
The casino’s resort will include 500 rooms with amenities such as a spa, pool and fitness center. The casino will have 1,400 games and machines and the entire website promises thousands of new jobs.
Sawyer believes many of these jobs could go to people in their town. Reidsville is just 20 miles from Danville.
“We have a large number of people who travel and commute outside of Rockingham County for jobs every day,” Sawyer said.
Bobe said the casino will give the region a boost.
“We know that within four hours of driving we will have more visitors and a regional attraction for people who visit this facility,” said Bobe.
Caesars Entertainment plans to break ground in December and create 900 construction jobs.
The casino is scheduled to open by the end of 2023. An estimated 1,300 people will work there.
