RAPID CITY, SD (KEVN) – Starting this week in Deadwood, whether you’re betting on your predictions for the March madness or Tom Brady winning another Super Bowl, you can place your bet on your favorite sports teams in Deadwood. However, the Deadwood Mountain Grand is betting on the future of sports betting.
Casino manager Tyler Knold says something different is coming to the Deadwood Mountain Grand, “we have slot machines, we have tables, we have a great restaurant and the concert hall, but now that sports betting is coming we decided in May 2019 when” it was discussed first, let’s stand in front of it and build a sportsbook. “
Since then, the casino and resort has made way for sports betting, “We made all these changes a few months ago and built a sports betting area. This was actually a place where people eat and listen to music and we tried slot machines. We tried music, so I, the general manager, then our CFO and the owner, decided that we would try sports booking, ”said Knold.
Knold adds that they are betting that sports bookings will be a success. “We had all kinds of fun ideas, we recently hosted the McGregor fight and had a huge turnout, every seat was taken very quickly.”
The excitement isn’t just at the casino, says Knold, it’s all over Deadwood, people looking forward to the opportunity to make Deadwood a place to travel.
“We want to be a travel destination, we want people to live locally, we want them to come to Deadwood instead of flying to Vegas or flying to Atlantic City or flying to Colorado. We want to keep people here and hope that they see the games, play and have a good time, ”said Knold.
The Deadwood Mountain Grand has no set date on which they will place their first bet.
The official betting start for Deadwood is scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at Tin Lizzie.
