BRISTOL, Virginia – The furniture once used in the former Bristol Mall will soon find new life.
Hard Rock International has donated various items from the former shopping center to be converted into the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol, officials said in a press release on Friday. Items such as flower pots, former kiosks and more have been donated to Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Kingsport.
“This is just one way Hard Rock serves the community that we belong to,” said Allie Evangelista, President of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol, in the press release. “We are grateful for this opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity to raise funds that they can use to build homes for families in our community.”
According to Habitat for Humanity, the donations will result in thousands of dollars in sales that will fund an affordable new home for a single mother in Bristol this fall. The press release also states that Hard Rock has donated thousands of dollars worth of commercial-grade furniture and accessories to Habitat stores.
So far, according to the press release, the items donated to the Kingsport store have been “extraordinarily popular.”
“I can tell you – we recovered between 10 and 15 huge pots and every single one was sold. These were a hit,” said Laura Kelly, executive director of Holston Habitat for Humanity, in the press release. “The partnership between Holston Habitat for Humanity and Hard Rock was a no-brainer. We’re grateful that Hard Rock is investing in our community and can’t wait to see what else we can accomplish together.”
The Hard Rock Hotel Casino Bristol – Virginia’s first casino ever – will open its temporary facility on Friday, July 8th. According to Hard Rock Bristol’s website, the final casino and hotel project is set to open in the summer of 2024.
