Beach goes 2-0 on day two of UNF Invite


Jacksonville, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Florida State Seminoles defeated UNF and No. 11 Georgia State on day two of the UNF Invite. The Seminoles’ overall record improved to 19-5. Bad weather appears to be an issue for this season as FSU’s games are delayed by rain for the third time this season.


The Seminoles started the day with a win over host team UNF. Florida State currently leads the all-time series 6-0.

Raelyn White and Caitlin Moon earned the first match point of the day in fourth place. The duo teamed for a second time this weekend to defeat UNF 21-15, 21-16.

In fifth place, Kate Privett and Anna Long fought their way through a tight first set with 22:20. They sealed the win and second match point, winning the second set 21-15.

Jordan Polo and Morgan Chacon scored the decisive point in the match in third place. The pair kept the Ospreys in single digits in both sets, winning 21-8, 21-9.

Alaina Chacon and Madison Fitzpatrick have earned their 45th birthdayth win as a pair in second place. The pair defeated UNF 21-7, 21-13. Chacon and Fitzpatrick are currently fifth all-time for a pair’s wins in Florida State.

Court one finished the sweep and defeated the Ospreys 21-14, 21-17. Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer maintained the lead against UNF throughout, resulting in their dominant win.

FSU 3, State of Georgia 1

The Seminoles went into a more than two-hour rain break before defeating Georgia State 3-1. Due to the weather and delays, the game was played to a decision. Florida State currently leads the series 14-1.

First place scored the first match point for the Seminoles with the duo Brook Bauer and Maddie Anderson. The pair dominated in straight sets, winning 21-15, 21-13. They are currently 17-5 in the season as partners.

Georgia State won their only match point in fourth place. Caitlin Moon and Raelyn White won the first set 23-21 before losing the second and third sets 21-12, 17-15.

Jordan Polo and Morgan Chacon in third place scored the second match point for the Seminoles. The duo held Georgia State to just 15 points in each set. Polo and Chacon remained unbeaten as a couple at the weekend (4-0).

Anna Long and Kate Privett scored the deciding point for the Seminoles in fifth place. The pair won the first set 21-17, lost the second set 21-19 and then won the final set 15-10.

Alaina Chacon and Madison Fitzpatrick could not finish their match in second place because the decision had already been made.

The Florida State Seminoles will be back home next weekend for the Unconquered Invitational on Friday, April 8thth and Saturday, April 9thth. The Noles face off against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, LSU, TCU, FIU and Stetson.
